Target Overview
Pappalysin-2 (PAPPA2, UniProt Q9BXP8) is a secreted metalloproteinase (EC 3.4.24.-) also known as pregnancy-associated plasma protein A2 (PAPP-A2) or pregnancy-associated plasma protein E1 (PAPP-E). This 1,791-amino-acid enzyme exhibits specific proteolytic activity toward insulin-like growth factor binding protein-5 (IGFBP-5), cleaving the peptide bond at Ser-163-|-Lys-164, and shows limited activity toward IGFBP-3. By liberating IGFs from inhibitory binding proteins, PAPPA2 regulates local IGF bioavailability in a variety of physiological contexts. The protease plays documented roles in prenatal growth, postnatal bone development, and vascular remodeling. Researchers use PAPPA2 antibodies to investigate IGF signaling axes in bone biology, reproductive endocrinology, and growth disorders, as well as to map the enzyme's expression in normal and pathological tissues.

This antibody is validated for human PAPPA2.
