Rabbit polyclonal antibody against Neurilysin (NLN, EC 3.4.24.16). Neurilysin is an M3-family zinc metallopeptidase widely distributed in nervous tissue, reproductive organs, and muscle. Also known as microsomal endopeptidase or endopeptidase 24.16, neurilysin hydrolyzes bradykinin, neurotensin, dynorphin A(1–8), and other biologically active neuropeptides in the extracellular space, contributing to peptide inactivation and blood pressure regulation.
Neurilysin shares approximately 60% sequence identity with thimet oligopeptidase (THOP1) but exhibits distinct substrate specificity and subcellular distribution. Mitochondrial and cytosolic isoforms have been described from alternative translation initiation sites. Emerging research links neurilysin to insulin degradation, cardiovascular regulation, and central nervous system peptide homeostasis.
Applications: Western blot validated (RP3 clone, C-terminal). Recommended positive controls: rat brain homogenate, mouse testis lysate, or transfected HEK293 lysate.
Immunogen: Synthetic peptide corresponding to a C-terminal region of human neurilysin (UniProt Q9BYT8), sequence chosen for minimal homology to THOP1.
Reactivity: Human, mouse, rat confirmed by Western blot on tissue lysates.
