Rabbit polyclonal antibody against Kallistatin (SERPINA4). Kallistatin is a serpin-family serine protease inhibitor originally identified in human plasma as an inhibitor of tissue kallikrein (KLK1). Kallistatin regulates blood pressure through kinin signaling and has emerged as an angiogenesis regulator with important roles in cardiovascular disease, cancer progression, and inflammation.

Structurally, kallistatin is homologous to alpha-1 antitrypsin (SERPINA1) with a reactive center loop (RCL) that traps target proteases via covalent acyl-enzyme intermediates. Beyond its kallikrein-inhibiting activity, kallistatin exhibits protease-independent functions including anti-inflammatory signaling through the LRP6/Wnt pathway and inhibition of angiogenesis via binding to tropomyosin and interference with VEGF/eNOS signaling.

Three TPB antibody variants target N-terminal, reactive center loop, and C-terminal domains, enabling functional-state discrimination: N-terminal antibodies detect both native and cleaved kallistatin, while RCL-directed antibodies preferentially detect the intact inhibitory form.

Applications: Western blot validated (all three clones). Serum, plasma, and hepatocyte lysate are strong positive controls. For plasma quantitation, use RP1 (N-terminal) as capture and RP3 (C-terminal) as detection in sandwich ELISA formats.

Immunogen: Synthetic peptides corresponding to non-overlapping regions of human kallistatin (UniProt P29622).

Reactivity: Human confirmed; mouse and rat predicted based on sequence homology.
