| Description | RP5MMP3 is a Rabbit antibody to the Matrix Metalloproteinase Stromelysin-1, made with a synthetic peptide based on the propeptide domain of the Human sequence. The antibody binds to Stromelysin-1 and Stromelysin-2, but does not cross react with Stromelysin-3, nor to the other MMP family members (MMP-1, MMP-2, MMP-9, etc.). RP4MMP3 is a good cross control for our other peptide antibodies to Stromelysin. The antibody has been peptide-affinity purified, concentrated to 1 mg/ml, with the addition of Sodium Azide as preservative and 50% glycerol as cryoprotectant |

RP5MMP3 Anti-MMP3 works well for Western Blotting applications, and when used against the reduced protein identifies bands at 59 Kd and 57 Kd (the pro-form), and not the active forms. The antibody can be used to detect the zymogen, thus can be used to discriminate the proform from activated MMP-3. RP5MMP3 will also bind to the non-reduced protein, but less efficiently than to the reduced protein, and thus has limited application for immunoprecipitation, immunohistochemistry, and ELISA uses. RP5MMP3 works better across species lines than RP2MMP3, or RP3MMP3. Stromelysin levels in quiescent cells and tissues are minimal, and stimulation or protein concentration is often needed to visualize the bands. In addition, cell types differ greatly in the quantity of Stromelysin produced. A recommended starting concentration for Western blots is 1:1000 when using colorimetric substrates such as BCIP/NBT, and 1:5000 for chemiluminescent substrates. Higher concentration of antibody may be needed for non-human samples. FOR RESEARCH USE ONLY. NOT FOR USE IN HUMANS. |
| Storage | The undiluted antibody solution is stable for approximately 6 months at 4°C. For longer storage, store at -20°C. The solution is buffered from freezing at -20°C by 50% glycerol, but will freeze at -80°C. Avoid unnecessary freeze-thaw cycles. Diluted antibody can be reused several times if not contaminated; store at 4°C with 0.05% Sodium Azide as preservative. |
