| Description | RP4MMP7 is a Rabbit antibody to the Matrix Metalloproteinase MMP-7, (Matrilysin, PUMP), made with a synthetic peptide based on the Human sequence. The antibody is directed to the propeptide region of MMP-7. The antibody binds to MMP-7, but does not cross react with the other MMP family members (MMP1, MMP2, MMP3, etc.). The antibody has been peptide-affinity purified, concentrated to 1mg/ml, with the addition of Sodium Azide and 50% glycerol as preservative. |

RP4MMP7 is directed to the propeptide region of MMP-7, which is removed during activation of the enzyme. The antibody works well for Western Blotting applications, and when used against the reduced protein identifies bands at about 28 Kd. The active 18Kd form of the antibody is not detected, thus RP4MMP7 can be used to discriminate between latent and active MMP-7. RP4MMP7 binds to native or reduced protein, and has use for Immunoprecipitation, immunohistochemistry, and ELISA applications. Matrilysin (MMP-7) does not appear to be produced by most normal quiescent cells, but treatment of many cell types with the phorbol ester TPA stimulates production of MMP-7. Because of the low protein levels produced (pg/mL) concentration of cell culture media is often required to visualize the bands by Western Blotting. A recommended starting concentration for Western blots is 1:1000 when using colorimetric substrates such as BCIP/NBT, and 1:5000 for chemiluminescent substrates. Higher concentration of antibody may be needed for non-human samples. FOR RESEARCH USE ONLY. NOT FOR USE IN HUMANS. |
| Storage | The undiluted antibody solution is stable for approximately 6 months at 4°C. For longer storage, mix antibody solution with glycerol 1:1 to prevent freezing and store at -20°C. Diluted antibody can be reused several times if not contaminated; store at 4°C with 0.05% Sodium Azide as preservative. |
