Data Sheet for RP3MMP9
Product Name Rabbit Antibody to Gelatinase-B (MMP-9); Hinge region
Catalog Number RP3MMP9
Product size 100 ug
Description RP3MMP9 is a Rabbit antibody to the Matrix Metalloproteinase Gelatinase-B (92 Kd Gelatinase, MMP-9), made with a synthetic peptide based on the hinge region of the Human sequence. The antibody binds to Gelatinase-B, but does not cross react with the other MMP family members (MMP1, MMP2, MMP3, etc). The antibody has been peptide-affinity purified, concentrated to 1 mg/ml, with the addition of Sodium Azide as preservative and 50% glycerol as cryoprotectant.

Use

RP3MMP9-western blot

RP3MMP9 Anti-MMP9 works well for Western Blotting applications, and when used against the reduced protein identifies bands at 92 Kd and 88 Kd (the pro-form and active form). The antibody recognizes both native and reduced forms of MMP-9, and can also be used for immunoprecipitation, immunohistochemistry, and ELISA applications. Gelatinase-B is constitutively produced by some tumor cell lines (e.g.: HT1080, HL60, U937) but not by most quiescent cells and tissues. Treatment of cells with the phorbol ester TPA stimulates production of MMP-9 in some cell types, but the low protein levels produced (pg/ml) often require concentration of cell culture media to visualize the bands by Western blotting. Gelatinase-B and Gelatinase-A may be concentrated by binding to gelatin-agarose, and eluted with 10% DMSO.

FOR RESEARCH USE ONLY. NOT FOR USE IN HUMANS.

Storage The undiluted antibody solution is stable for approximately 6 months at 4°C. For longer storage, store at -20°C. The solution is buffered from freezing at -20°C by 50% glycerol, but will freeze at -80°C. Avoid unnecessary freeze-thaw cycles. Diluted antibody can be reused several times if not contaminated; store at 4°C with 0.05% Sodium Azide as preservative.
