| Description | RP3MMP2 is a Rabbit antibody to the Matrix Metalloproteinase Gelatinase-A (72 Kd Gelatinase, MMP-2), made with a synthetic peptide based on the hinge region of the Human sequence. The antibody binds to Gelatinase-A, but does not cross react with the other MMP family members (MMP-1, MMP-3, MMP-9, etc.). The antibody has been peptide-affinity purified, concentrated to 1 mg/ml, with the addition of sodium azide as preservative and 50% glycerol as cryoprotectant. RP3MMP2 serves as a good cross control for our other MMP-2 antibodies, RP1MMP2 and RP2MMP2. |

RP3MMP2 Anti-Gelatinase-A recognizes reduced and native gelatinase-A, free or bound to TIMP-2. The antibody works well for Western Blotting applications, as well as for immunoprecipitation, immunohistochemistry and ELISA. Gelatinase-A is constitutively produced in quiescent cells and tissues, and the enzyme has a high specific activity against denatured collagen. The low protein levels produced (pg/mL) often require concentration of cell culture media to visualize the bands by Western Blotting. Gelatinase-A and Gelatinase-B may be enriched from conditioned cell culture media by binding to gelatin-agarose, and eluted by 10% DMSO. A recommended starting concentration for Western blots is 1:1000 when using colorimetric substrates such as BCIP/NBT, and 1:5000 for chemiluminescent substrates. Higher concentration of antibody may be needed for non-human samples. FOR RESEARCH USE ONLY. NOT FOR USE IN HUMANS. |
| Storage | The undiluted antibody solution is stable for approximately 6 months at 4°C. For longer storage, store at -20°C. The solution is buffered from freezing at -20°C by 50% glycerol, but will freeze at -80°C. Avoid unnecessary freeze-thaw cycles. Diluted antibody can be reused several times if not contaminated; store at 4°C with 0.05% Sodium Azide as preservative. |
