| Description | RP3MMP1 is a Rabbit antibody to the Matrix Metalloproteinase Collagenase (Interstitial Collagenase; MMP-1), made with a synthetic peptide based on the carboxyterminal region of the Human sequence. The antibody binds to Collagenase, but does not cross react with the other MMP family members (MMP-2, MMP-3, MMP-9, etc.). The antibody has been peptide-affinity purified, concentrated to 1 mg/ml, 50% glycerol, with the addition of Sodium Azide as preservative. |

RP3MMP1 Anti-MMP1 works well for Western Blotting applications, and when used against the reduced protein identifies bands at 53 Kd and 51 Kd (the pro-form), as well as active forms. RP3MMP1 will also bind to the non-reduced protein, and thus has application for immunoprecipitation, immunohistochemistry, and ELISA uses. Since the hemopexin domain is cleaved off to form the smallest active form of MMP-1, the antibody does not recognize the 21 Kd form of MMP-1. Collagenase levels in quiescent cells and tissues are minimal, and stimulation or protein concentration is often needed to visualize the bands. In addition, cell types differ greatly in the quantity of Collagenase produced. A recommended starting concentration for Western blots is 1:1000 when using colorimetric substrates such as BCIP/NBT, and 1:5000 for chemiluminescent substrates. Although the sequence homology for this portion of MMP-1 is well conserved, higher concentrations of antibody may be needed for non-human samples. FOR RESEARCH USE ONLY. NOT FOR USE IN HUMANS. |
| Storage | The undiluted antibody solution is stable for approximately 6 months at 4°C. For longer storage, store at -20°C. The solution is buffered from freezing at -20°C by 50% glycerol, but will freeze at -80°C. Avoid unnecessary freeze-thaw cycles. Diluted antibody can be reused several times if not contaminated; store at 4°C with 0.05% Sodium Azide as preservative. |
