| Description | H-MMP-2, gelatinase-A, is a matrix metalloproteinase purified from human fibroblast cell culture media. The gelatinase-A is free of its endogenous inhibitor, TIMP-2, and other matrix metalloproteinases. The enzyme is supplied as a mixture of the zymogen and active enzyme, in a phosphate buffer pH 7.4, with 0.2 M sodium chloride, 2 % DMSO and 10% glycerol. |
| Use |
H-MMP-2 degrades denatured collagen (gelatin), and a range of extracellular matrix components in-vivo. Constituitively produced, the enzyme is usually paired with the metalloproteinase inhibitor, TIMP-2, which is also constituitively produced by cells in culture. Uses of the purified enzyme include enzyme kinetics assays, EIA, Western blot and PAGE standards, and substrate assays. FOR RESEARCH USE ONLY. NOT FOR USE IN HUMANS. |
| Storage | H-MMP-2, when stripped of TIMP-2, is unstable, and must stored carefully. Avoid repeated freeze thaw cycles, and store the enzyme at -80°C in aliquots. |
